Officina della Scrittura

A veritable 'Citadel of Knowledge', Officina della Scrittura is the place where everything related to the culture of writing and, more generally, to the sign of Man, is narrated and enhanced.

Officina della Scrittura, Turin’s unique Museum of Writing, is the place to discover and learn about the culture of handwriting and the world of human Sign, from the origins of the sign to the various forms of contemporary communication.

Visitors can admire the iconic Remington typewriters and explore the history of the fountain pen, from the “13 Queens” to the story of Aurora, the firm whose pens have left their mark on the last century of Italian history.

But that’s not all: you can also find vintage advertising posters, the craft workshop, educational workshops offering a number of courses open to schools and the general public, or take a tour of the Aurora Manufactory.

The Museum is truly unique. Housed in a thousand-year-old building close to the ancient Abbadia di Stura, it’s the perfect blend of technology and tradition, offering a multisensory experience that will inform, delight and educate visitors of all ages…

Aurora Manufactory

It takes two years, and more than 200 stage of production, to make an Aurora pen. An object that has lived in the hands of millions of Italians and that is testimony to the world of craftsmanship excellence, timeless elegance and the exceptional quality of Made in Italy. Come and see how a myth is born thanks to the skill of our craftsmen! Visits to the production areas must be guided tours, lasting about 30 minutes, and must be booked at least 48 hours in advance.
