Dare forma ai pensieri - Giovanni Fava

‘Words often distance us, sometimes intersect, confuse us, damage us. They mutate as events change, take on different shapes and colours. They change sound, they become music and noise, they convey thoughts. Sometimes you would like to destroy them, I have done so’ (Giovanni Fava 2013).
Officina della Scrittura, the first museum in the world dedicated to Sign and Writing, is pleased to present the new contemporary art exhibition Dare forma ai pensieri curated by Ermanno Tedeschi and dedicated to the artistic activity of Giovanni Fava, a young Calabrian artist with important experiences gained in the national and international spheres.

The exhibition, which celebrates the museum’s full recovery following the complex pandemic period, will be inaugurated on Wednesday 19 April 2023 in the Sala Scripta Volant.
Fava’s works fit perfectly into the context of Officina della Scrittura, which has made the Sign its distinctive feature, harmoniously connecting with the Museum’s mission to promote the activity of writing and the graphic gesture as an artistic, creative but also therapeutic and introspective practice.

With his works, the artist gives physicality and materiality to words and restores the true sense of the manuality of a thought written and seen at the same time. The fantastic world of writing and thoughts burst into the life of the work as well as into the everyday life of people: the Art of Writing and Writing in Art compared in order to best identify the characteristics of two profoundly different yet equally essential disciplines in the existence of the human being.
