Officina della Scrittura, Museo del Segno e della Scrittura (Museum of Sign and Writing), opened to the public on 1 October 2016, dedicates an area of around 500 square metres to modern and contemporary art, promoting exhibition projects linked to the investigation of the multiple dimensions of the Sign of Man.
This space, consecrated by the inaugural exhibition ‘Scripta Volant’, from which it borrowed its paradoxical name, is now preparing to host an important solo exhibition of the artist Antonio Meneghetti (1936-2013).
The exhibition, entitled ‘Antonio Meneghetti. Sculpting Light’ curated by Ermanno Tedeschi (open to the public from 24 February to 23 May 2017) is realised under the patronage of the Antonio Meneghetti Foundation for Scientific and Humanistic Research.
Meneghetti was a brilliant, generous and joyful man and artist, a keen observer of the world and human nature. His paintings are characterised by abstract brushstrokes of colour while man is at the centre of the design objects: all of his varied work is based on the multifaceted perceptions and multiple points of view of the subject. He himself has said of his art: ‘it is a matter of grasping between two colours their universal denominator, transcendentality, the point of light balance where they all harmonise’. Meneghetti’s art is a set of colours and signs in which one can grasp the essence of existence itself.
